ADVANTAGES:
If you live in an area that gets frequent storms, lightning, or rain, this model is definitely something you should consider. It's the only model we reviewed that has a lightning strike detector integrated into it. According to the company, it can detect lightning activity up to 20 miles away, we were not able to test their long-distance claims and remain somewhat skeptical. Still, it does detect movement within a few miles accurately. This isn't the right model for everyone, but for some people, it is precisely what they are looking for.
DISADVANTAGES:
Our biggest complaint with this model is that it's a standalone weather station. It does not publish weather data to the internet, does not connect with IFTTT, and does not connect to Amazon Echo or Google Home digital assistants. You can add that functionality with an Acurite Access, but that's going to cost you another $129 making this a pretty pricey investment. Lightning data does not get uploaded to the internet. Unless you need/want the storm and lightning detection capabilities, this model isn't a great value.

This model is best suited for someone who wants to measure outdoor weather conditions only, isn't interested in publishing weather data to the internet, and is looking for a value-priced model. But doesn't want to spend the money on a full-featured station with internet publishing and indoor sensors, but wants to have the ability to add those features down the road if they're going to. The 5-in-1 sensor array is the same as you find in more expensive Acurite Weather Stations.

If this is something, you want to do, you should consider a model with internet publishing built-in. There is no barometric pressure sensor or combination temperature/humidity sensor with this model.

8. AcuRite Wireless Weather Station with Wind and Rain Sensor
The AcuRite Wireless Weather Station with Wind and Rain Sensor is an excellent tool to have on hand for the weather tracker. It uses precision technology for forecasting, pulling data gathered from an outdoors sensor in order to give the most accurate weather forecast for the user’s specific location.
The forecast features a 8- to 12-hour, 4- to 8-hour, and 4-hour intervals of temperature highs and lows, chance of rain, and cloud cover. It also features a history chart for temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. The weather station utilizes wireless technology that allows it to transmit data even through barriers or walls, and across long distances.
Its signal penetration is at 433 MHz. As if that was not enough, this particular model allows the user to customize the features he wants, with a continuous weather ticker streaming complete with information and alerts.
The users who loved this weather station commended it for being very easy to install. One of them shared how he was a bit of a weather aficionado, and he had been using this for several weeks without any issues. He was also pleasantly surprised, as he had not known before, that the weather station also measured rainfall. He also liked the weather forecast shown in pictures, which he felt was very accurate. The display was also confirmed to be nice, with a good backlight and the information being easy to read. The reviewers also liked how the instructions that came with the unit were very easy to understand, making setup simple and easy. They also appreciated how the weather station came without any wires at all, including the way that the outdoor sensors were used: other weather stations only featured wireless transmission to the indoor base, while still having the outdoor sensors wired together, but this one was commended for being completely wireless.
Meanwhile, a few reviewers were not too happy with their purchase, as the weather station apparently only worked for a few weeks. One of them shared that he went through four units in just a little over a year; although he commended the company’s customer service for being very good, replacing every single unit that malfunctioned, he felt that it was enough chances to have it replaced three times, especially since he was running out of warranty time. Another reviewer also shared about how he returned the first unit and received a replacement, which was working fine.
Based on these reviews, this sounds like a good weather station to buy. However, with the high risk of quality control issues, it might be a better idea to turn to a more reliable model.
